In this picture we had to take a photo in direct light using shadow to frame the subject I worked with Natalie and Richelle so we placed Natalie's water bottle under a bunch of wood we tried to position it so that the water bottle was in the shadow.
This is an image I took of Richelle where she had to have her back to the sun and I take a photograph of her without the reflector. You can see the shadows in her face while the sun lights up the back of her hair.
f/4.5
shutter speed: 1/1000
ISO: 200
After taking a picture without the reflector I had to retake the image using the reflector in this image you can see that there is more light in the subjects face compared to the image I took without using the reflector.

f/4.5
shutter speed: 1/1250
ISO: 200
focal length
70.0mm
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/200
ISO: 100
This is a streetscape image that I took using 5 different focal lengths, this was taken where the lens was zoomed all the way out capturing everything on the street.
100.0mm
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/200
ISO: 100
In this image I used a different focal length that is zoomed in a little more than the other one here you can the power poles getting closer as the lens is zoomed in.
135.0mm
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/200
ISO:100
This is another example of using different focal lengths here I've zoomed in by 135.0mm making the power poles appear more closer than the previous images.
200.0mm
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/160
ISO: 100
Here I am zoomed in by 200.0mm you can now see the boy is alot more closer where he was quite far in the previous images that I took. Also the trees in the image appear more clearer.
300.0mm
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/160
ISO: 100
Here I am zoomed in to 300.0mm which is the most the lens can zoom into this was a cool exercise after taking them and having a look you can really see what you couldn't in the first images now that I'm zoomed all the way in I can see the subjects that appeared further in first images alot more clearer.
In this exercise we had to use the 70-300mm lens and shoot either a portrait, streetscape or landscape image I chose to shoot a streetscape image as I found the street I photographed interesting it had a high vantage point from where I was standing and also the other side I captured in the photo was a high vantage point.
In the next task I had to take an image (portrait or still life) using direct light you can see in this photograph that the shadows appear more on the subjects face and neck and also because I didn't use a reflector.

In this image I used the gold reflector shining it on the subject the gold reflector is quite harsh on the subject but brings more light in I don't really like this image I think there is too much light but I did enjoy being able to see what the different reflectors do when they are put onto the subject.
f/4.5
shutter speed: 1/1600
ISO: 200

In this image the silver reflector was used this isn't so harsh on the subject

Nice work Huia. Can you comment on how the different focal lengths change the look of each photo? For example what does it do to the power poles on the side of the road and how does the background change?
