Week 4: texture, positive/negative space exercise

In this task I had to photograph five or more different textures and fill the frame.
In this image I took a photo of the front of my cousins car filling the frame with the texture.
f/4.5
shutter speed: 1/60
ISO: 100

The next picture is a texture from the extractor fan that is positioned over the stove at my house I found this interesting as the detail in it is really tiny.
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/100
ISO: 800

This is an image of the netting curtains in my house I stood in one room and tried to find the most textures I could
f/8.0
shutter speed: 1/80
ISO: 100

In this image I took a image of the curtains that are in the kitchen
f/10.0
shutter speed: 1/100
ISO: 3200

This is a photograph of the cane basket that we use to store the towels at my house it had a lot of texture in it and also being able to utilise whats in my house made this task enjoyable.
f/3.5
shutter speed: 1/80
ISO: 6400

In this image I went outside and because my aunty has a lot of plants that are at the front of the house I found this aloe vera plant to be quite interesting as it has a great texture to it the spiky looking parts that stick out make it unique and also something different to photograph.
f/11.0
shutter speed: 1/60
ISO: 1600

In the next task we had to take three wider shots that define incorporating texture.

So in this image I pretty much used the same subject as my other where I took a photo of my cousins car but this time I took a wider shot which incorporated texture.
f/4.5
shutter speed: 1/80
ISO: 100

This is also the same extractor fan that I took an image of but this time using a wider frame to capture more of what the image actually is.
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/125
ISO: 800

Also this is the same cane basket that we use in our house to store the towels but here I've used a wider frame so that you can see more of the image.
f/3.5
shutter speed: 1/80
ISO: 6400

This is the aloe vera plant using a wider frame I was able to photograph more of what is going on in the image.
f/11.0
shutter speed: 1/60
ISO: 1600

In this task I had to take some low angle photos using the sky as negative space. I stood at one corner of the house and pointed my camera upwards to give a low angle effect but still having the sky as negative space in my image.
f5.6
shutter speed: 1/400
ISO: 100

In this image I kneeled down under the clothes line and used the sky as my negative space I was able to get a low angle image from this photograph.
f/22.0
shutter speed: 800
ISO: 1600

Creating a still life of 2-4 objects I used my shoes and positioned two in one photograph as seen below I took it from a straight on point where I was positioned right in front of the subject.
f/11.0
shutter speed: 1/80
ISO: 6400

In this image I added another object but placed it slightly away from the other subjects I also positioned them so that they are not all in sync with each other I was positioned more on the right side of the subjects so the image is not from a straight on view. Also the white wall shows the negative space in the image.
f/11.0
shutter speed: 1/60
ISO: 6400

In this image I positioned my subjects so that they are closer to each other and also stayed to the right of the subjects so it also isn't a straight on point the carpet and white wall show the negative space in this image.
f/11.0
shutter speed: 1/60
ISO: 6400

Self directed

In my self directed task I had to take some images incorporating texture and experimenting with negative space.

This texture is from the element on the kitchen stove I like that I am able to explore with the different textures found inside my house.
f/5.0
shutter speed: 1/30
ISO: 1600

This is a traditional maori flower made out of flax I think incorporating my maori heritage is also something that is quite cool when it comes to photography I found this in a vase that sits on the top of the fire place. The weaves in it make the texture of this flower different to any normal flower.
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/80
ISO: 6400

This is an image I took of my cousins low rider bike this is a picture of the seat of the bike it gives a nice texture and is also different to a usual bicycle seat it sort of gives it a classic kind of look.
f/6.3
shutter speed: 1/400
ISO: 6400

This is an image where I used the street sign as the subject and the sky was used as the negative space this picture also has leading lines with the power lines in the photograph as well.
f/5.0
shutter speed: 1/1000
ISO: 100
