research model: Tim Tadder

Tim Tadder is an internationally acclaimed photographic artist best known for his highly inventive conceptual advertising photography and has been ranked in the top 200 photographers worldwide by the Luezer Archive Magazine for 8 years.  In 2012 Tadder created a collection of images that were ranked by Time magazine as one of the time internet sensations of that year. Tadder has been commissioned to make portraits of notables like President George W. Bush, Bill Gates and Manny Pacquiao he has worked with other subjects including rap icon Ice Cube and worlds best swimmer Michael Phelps.

Tim Tadder is an advertising photographer the reason I used him as a research model is because the use of lighting in his images, I like what the lighting is doing in his images using the lighting kit for my portfolio project would be something that would be a comparison in my work and his. The similar ideas would be the lighting and also capturing his subjects in their natural environments. My work would be different because his are highly edited whereas I've kept mine really simple probably because he's also an advertising photographer.

I love the lighting used in this image I think I have a real thing for external lighting I love it. Here I think the lighting is coming from either side of the subject. I love the red, white and blue colours I was inspired by this image for my portfolio project that I done.

Another example of lighting here I think he may have underexposed the background making sure that his subject was correctly exposed. I love the effect the underexposed background gives it almost feels like he has shot it at night I'm not sure if he has although thats how it makes me feel.

I like the dark sky in this image but the white in it also gives it a dramatic looking feeling. I like how the subject is correctly exposed I love how the horse is also lit. It looks like this was shot from a low angle vantage point, the connection between the subject and photographer gives me a sense that he is comfortable unless he's a model and used to this kind of stuff. This image makes me feel like he's about to go off and ride with other people on their horses.

Again the reason I chose to use Tim Tadder as a research model is because the lighting he uses and the way it looks in his images. Here is an environmental portrait of a man similar to the portfolio work that I have been doing, I like the orange, yellows and blues in this image. I think he has used ambient lighting here and may have had a reflector to correctly expose his subject.
