Week 2 Shutter research

Shutter speed: Shutter speed or exposure time is the length of time when the film or digital sensor is exposed to light.

Fast Shutter Speed: This is an example of fast shutter speed, a fast shutter speed is freezing action and also lets in less light.

Slow shutter speed: When a slow shutter speed is used, a longer time passes from when the shutter opens till when it closes. Giving it more time for movement in the subject to be recorded by the camera as a blur.

Francesa Woodman

Francesca Woodman was a American photographer and she was best known for her black and white images that featured either her or female models. Most of her photos were captured of young woman that were nude, blurred due to movement and long exposure time.

Francesa Woodman used a slow shutter speed in most of her images with a moving subject that gave her images a blurred look. She liked to work in old abandoned buildings. I like the how she uses a slow shutter speed giving her images a blurred look.

Below are some images that were taken by Francesca Woodman

Darren Glass (NZ photographer)

Darren Glass is one of New Zealands most imaginative photographers, he uses a pinhole camera to capture his images. Darren Glass is known for his landscape and light drawing photography.

light drawing- A slow shutter speed was used to capture this image giving more exposure for the moving light source to be captured like this.
