Aperture Research

Aperture: Aperture refers to the opening of the lens through which light passes. A narrow depth of field is used using your lowest F stop and a wide depth of field is used using your highest depth of field.

Mark Adams (NZ photographer)


Mark Adams in one of New Zealand's most distiguished photographers, he was born in Christchurch and attended the Canterbury University majoring in graphic design to get access to photography.

He is best known for his work on documenting Samoan Tatau (tattooing) Maori and Pakeha interactions around Rotorua and historic sites in New Zealand and also Europe, Australia and South Africa.



An aperture of F22 was used as everything in the image is in focus.

Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams was famous for his black and white photographs of the American West especially Yosemite National Park.



A small aperture was used giving it a wide depth of field and having everything in the photograph in focus.
